About Luminate
WHO WE ARE
Luminate is a small mental health organization founded and run by passionate undergraduate students with the intention of fostering student community and sharing psychology research to support mental health on campus. In its start-up year, Luminate organized two independent mental health workshops and a two-day Student Mental Health & Wellbeing Academic Conference as part of the Agents of Change initiative in the Faculty of Health at York University. Luminate aims to continue making a positive impact on student mental health in its second programming year.
OUR MISSION
Our mission is to bridge the gap between scientific findings and real-world applications by disseminating evidence-based strategies to help deal with the mental health challenges most relevant to students. We aim to make mental health resources and education accessible to all students.
We work towards our mission by developing experiential workshops, engaging social media educational content and an annual academic conference on mental health. Our conference allows students, faculty, and community partners to share knowledge, exchange ideas and establish professional connections with one another.
Together, let’s shine light on student mental health.
