We created Luminate because we wanted to bridge the gap
between psychological research findings and their real-world applications. As psychology students, we saw an opportunity to create community within our student body to share ideas and break
down mental health stigma.

Gwyneth Campbell
BA in Specialized Honours Psychology, 5th Year
Gwyneth was originally drawn to the field of psychology because of her interest in individual differences and her passion for helping others. Gwyneth has two years of experience working in health education at York, which has contributed to her drive to increase mental health education and reduce the stigma surrounding mental health. Her interdisciplinary research interests include understanding how early childhood experiences shape development and behaviour, psychotherapy processes, emotion regulation, and episodic memory. Upon graduation, Gwyneth aspires to pursue graduate studies in Clinical Psychology. In her free time, Gwyneth enjoys reading and baking.

Rupkatha Basu
BA in Specialized Honours Psychology
Rupkatha is an international student from India. She was originally drawn to the field of psychology because she wanted to understand the cultural and situational contexts that create individual differences between people. She has two years of experience working in the Faculty of Health as a student success mentor and program coordinator. Rupkatha’s research interests include studying the underlying mechanisms of self-destructive behaviour, like non-suicidal self-injury and suicide ideation. Upon graduation, Rupkatha hopes to pursue graduate studies in Clinical Psychology. Outside academics, she enjoys cooking, listening to true crime podcasts, and playing with her pets.
