Eligibility & Role Descriptions

  • You must be a current undergraduate student at York University.
  • Prior volunteering experience is an asset, but not necessary.
  • All York students are welcome to apply. However, preference may be given to students in the Faculty of Health.
  • You must have full-day availability on Conference Day (March 24th and 25th, 2021).
  • You must have access to a stable internet connection for the entire duration of the event.

Note: This is a two day volunteer position for our Academic Conference in March (March 24th and 25,th 2021).

Based on organizational needs on Conference Day, you may be assigned one or more of the following roles:

  • Registration Moderator: maintain a list of registrants for the Concurrent Sessions, admit participants to the appropriate sessions based on the registration list.
  • Chat Moderator: moderate the chat during Concurrent Sessions to ensure the discussion remains appropriate and relevant to the topic at all times, ask guiding questions from a provided list to keep conversation going.
  • Time Keeper: ensure that each section of a Concurrent Session is running on schedule, notify guest speakers of the time five minutes before the end of their speech.
